Midget

Franklin's Midgets lost a great opportunity to start the 2001 season on a good note. Facing a Plainfield team they should have easily handled. Franklin committed mistake after mistake.Franklin had not lost to the Cardinals in 3 seasons.

Poor tackling all night long by the defense allowed Plainfield to keep possession of the ball for long amounts of time. Early in the game Plainfield went around right end and out ran the entire Franklin defense 65 yards. The Franklin crowd and those on the sideline watched in disbelief, you could have heard a pin drop at that point. But to their credit the defense did not allow the Cardinals to reach the endzone, they forced several turnovers when the Cardinals had driven deep into Warrior territory. But the Franklin offense could not put together  sustained drives without committing mistakes.

Plainfield worked the "Bears 46 defense" to perfection, with sloppy blocking by Franklin aiding them. Several times the Franklin offense seemed to have the Cardinals on their heels, but  each drive was stalled by offsides and poor execution.

Next up are the Elizabeth Giants, who handed New Brunswick a 21 - 6 spankdown in the opener for both teams. Franklin had better bring a much better work ethic and execution scheme, if they want to keep pace with the high flying Giants.
